Foot Kinetic Index
The Dynamic Pressure Mapping Stability Register Index is a score system to assess quantitatively any trajectory of dynamic pressure registers.
Could be applied in diferent fields. We have developed and tested it for the human gait analysis.
In this first project we called it “Foot Kinetic Index” (FKI).
We have developed a diagnostically score that could classify dynamic pressure registers in normality or disorder. It’s based on kinetic parameters, not kinematic, and it only needs numeric software registers exclusively.
FKI algorithm considers CoP excursion, Pmax trajectory, pressure intensity and geolocation, together, worked on inverse kinetic.
FKI diagnostic score:
Subjects with results between -3 and +3 are considered normals. Outside that, can be considered pathologic.*
Negative values correspond to supination range and positive values correspond to pronation range.
* In Validation process. Tested in a descriptive cross-sectional observational study, with 52 healthy adult subjects.
Numeric diagnostically value that distinguishes between alteration or normality, from any pressure-measuring system
FootKineticIndex ables to obtain every numeric asses value for individual pressure gait analysis.
Pronated or hyper-pronated dynamic foot will get values between +4 and +12, depending on its severity level.
Supinated or hypersupinated dynamic foot will get values between -4 and -12.
Medical professional must choose 3 valid and representative steps, for right and left foot, by who’s being analysed
The application manage the numerical data to calculate the FKI for each foot.
Geolocation and chronology of kinetic failure
FootKineticIndexApp identifies where the kinetic issue is located, within 6 possible areas, an when it appears, it’s easily shown in the pressure map.
The App offers printable report for each analysis.
Facilitates therapeutic decision-making as well as clinical diagnoses.
Therapeutic decision-making, hard professionally, can be guided thanks to identification and location of kinetic errors.
Preference about rehabilitative treatments, training, orthotic treatment or surgery treatments can be structured by mean of FootKineticIndex diagnostic score.
Clinical diagnoses such as tendinophaty or osteoarthritis may find quantifiable association to mechanical stress through FKI score
Able to follow individual’s evolution and changes according to treatments or training.
Record individual’s FootKineticIndex score within their medical history.
Comparisons con be printable.
Facilitates orthotic treatment design, as correction intensity by areas or choice of material’s hardness.
Facilitates orthotic treatment design, as correction intensity by areas or choice of material’s hardness.
FootKineticIndexApp help for different custom orthotic solution softwares in the treatment design process.
Research tool capable of quantifying results and collecting of statistical dates.
FootKineticIndexApp allows new evidence-based medicine studies or trials designs.
FaQs
What I need? FootKineticIndexapp needs dynamic plantar pressure recordings numerical data to calculate the FKI result. Plantar pressure recordings can comes from any pressure software register system such as pressure platforms, force plates or pressure-mesuring insoles.
How does it works? FootKineticIndexApp needs dynamic pressure records especially timing sequences, max pressure location, Cop excursion, and other numerical data to calculate de definitive FKIscore.
How can I use it? You must have the corresponding license that will allow you to download the FootKineticIndexApp to your PC, to which you will provide the numerical data of your patients' pressure records automatically. FootKineticIndexApp will offer you the resulting FKI from the pressure records of 3 representative and complete steps of the same individual for each foot.
News
We are working to validate FKI as a diagnostic method according to the guidelines of Evidence- based Medicine. We have designed research studies on repeatability, sensitivity and specificity.
FKI team is collecting data for a multicenter retrospective study. We are trying to publish in high impact scientific journals, our studies are under revision process.

FKI Licenses
We are developing FKI licenses (as Apps). We are currently working on three types or different licenses:
- FootKineticIndexApp licence
- FootKineticIndexApp Pro license
- FootKineticIndexApp Pro Clinic license

Our FootKineticIndex story
A true clinical podiatry and researcher, Anna Tribo, CEO and founder of FootKineticIndex always tried to quantify clinical diagnosis to facilitate making decisions, to choose the best treatment and to design trials.
A few years ago, she asked herself: How our brain works? What makes me discern what’s normal or pathologic? What have I in consider? And finally, How can I introduce that in numeric algorithms? Her goal was to achieve a useful, sensible and fiable diagnostically score using numeric and significance data.
So, in 2016 she started a research project into ICACS Master of sciences program from Universitat de Barcelona to check evidence FootKineticIndex validity.
By 2019 Tribó, with the FootKineticIndex team, set out to create a “software app” that would offer an easily, useful, sensible graphical and printable diagnostical score. It was designed for facilitate making decisions, improve treatments and advance researcher goals.
But actually, what she wants to achieve is and elegant tool for who love Evidence Based Medicine, clarity and real human care. The result is FootKineticIndexapp.
